We have a baby!!
Well I realize I haven't posted since my last appt, and I apologize.. but things have been a whirlwind since then. I went to the OB on 7-12 for my 39 week checkup. I was 38w5d at my appt. Doc gave me the choice to induce that night, or wait until the 19th to see if I went on my own. Well.. I decided to go ahead and be induced that night.
So at 9pm on July 12th we arrived at L&D to get things started. At 9pm on July 13th things weren't progressing how they would like, so off we went for an un-expected c-section due to failure to progress. Since I had been in labor for 24 hours, and had only gone 2 or 3 cm in 12 hours, they figured we should go ahead and have a baby. Tristan Alexander Gentle was born at 9:35pm on July 13th, weighing 6lbs 14oz and was 19.5inches long. He was so beautiful, and of course still is :). I couldn't be happier. He and I are both doing well :D. Now he is 12 days old, and I can't believe it :).
I will post a seperate post with tons of pictures :D, but here is our first family photo.

Late, but 35wk belly pics
The last time I took belly pics was at 28.6 weeks, and so I took some more at 35wks5days. They are the most recent belly pics that I have atm. The info is of course in the pic, and hopefully I'll be taking some more very soon.. along with some pics of the nursery :). Enjoy. Some are bare belly of course. My belly button is fully out the majority of the time, depending on how my baby boy is laying. And the shirt says " This is all his fault" :D.
38 week update :)
Hey guys. I can't believe I haven't posted in 6 weeks. Oops.. bad Ashley :P. I'm sure this will be a long one as usual.. in my forgetful fashion to update more frequently hehe.
Well, things have been going good. All of my OB appts have been pretty standard up until now. At my 36wk appt I had my first internal exam done, and also was tested for Group B Strep. That all went ok, I was uncomfortable, but no pain :). I unfortunately was closed up tight :P. I had softened some, but no dilation or thinning. But! Tristan is head down, and in position. He just wasn't engaged yet. They wont check me again unless I have signs of labor. Oh and I started going to 1x a week appts after my 36wk visit. Now to update on yesterday.
Yesterday I had my 38wk appt, and today I am officially 38 weeks pregnant! Can you believe it?? Only 2 more weeks until my due date :). ::Squeel:: Well my appt went good. I had gained 3lbs since my 37wk appt, so that puts me at a total weight gain of 22lbs this pregnancy. My blood pressure was a bit high for once, so they had me lay on my side for a bit. Luckily it went back down to normal range. Tristan's heartbeat was nice and strong, in the 150's. My past few appts it has been in the 130's or 140's, but the 150's is still just fine :). He was super active, so it didn't suprise me. My fundus is measuring right on schedule, so they don't think I'm gonna have a huge baby.. yay lol.
And then the not so bad, but still not great news.. I am GBS+. No biggie, it's just a bacterial infection that doesn't really cause any harm to the mother. But if the baby gets it during delivery, it can cause some serious life-threatening illnesses. Luckily, if you receive antibiotics while in labor the baby only has a 1 in 4,000 chance of getting GBS. So, I'll take the meds please :D. I just have to make sure I tell them no penicillin, because I am allergic, and ask them to give an alternate antibiotic. No biggie.
My braxton hicks contractions have increased some, but not much. I've only had a handful of real practice contractions. I wish they would start coming all the time :P. But I do have a lot of pain/pressure the majority of the time. That is just because Tristan is so low and it seems as though he is finally engaged :). My next appt is on July 12th, and I will be 39 weeks that Wednesday. I think my OB will check me to see if there is any progress. If I haven't had him on my own by July 20th (the day before my due date) she may consider inducing me if my cervix is favorable (ie: dilated and effaced some). So we shall see what she decides to do then :).
I absolutely cannot wait to meet my baby boy :). After several months of feeling like this pregnancy hasn't been long enough, and after months and months of being in denial that I actually get a baby.. I'm totally ready and feel like it can't end soon enough :). It's so precious, because Paul wants him in his arms even more than I do :). Well, I think you guys are caught up now. 32 week appointment
Today I had my 32 week appt. I wont actually be 32 weeks until Wednesday, but still :P hehe. I am now going to appts every 2 weeks. So next I'll go at 34 then 36.. then I believe I start going once a week at 37 weeks.
The appt went well. I've gained 3 lbs since my 30w appt, so that puts me at 11 lbs total weight gain. My blood pressure was good too. A bit lower than usual, but still in the expected range. Tristan is doing good too! He/my fundus are measuring right on schedule. His HB was in the 130's, and he decided to stick an elbow or something up for the doctor to look at lol. It was funny.
My next appt is on Wed. June 9th. I will be 34 weeks on that day. Then my next appt after that will be sometime during my 36th week. I found out today that at the 36w appt I will have my first internal (cervical check) as well as my Group B Strep testing. Yay. lol.
I can't believe how close it is getting! In 5 weeks I will be full term.. so Tristan can come anywhere from a minimum of 5 weeks, to a max of 10 weeks!! So exciting. Thank you for reading :).

3/4 D Ultrasound
On May 7th I had my 3/4 D ultrasound. It was so much fun :). My mom was kind enough to buy it for me. Well. First off, Tristan is still a boy! yay.
Tristan had his back against my belly, and was being lazy. He didn't wanna roll over, but we were able to get some side of face and like 2/3 face shots. Here are some of my favorites.

Update and good news
So, I realize I haven't updated in a while. Oops lol.
I failed my 1 hour glucose test, and took my 3 hour test on 4-22. I just got my results.. and I passed!! Woot. No gestational diabetes for me!! :) I plan to bake a batch of brownies in celebration tonight.. I mean, what other way to celebrate? hehe. I'm sure the doc is going to ask me to keep an eye on my sugar levels though.
In other news, last Wed (4-21) I hit 27 weeks. So I am now officially in my 3rd trimester!! So exciting! I can't believe it. I will be 28 weeks on this Wed (4-28). So this means I have 12 weeks until my Est. Due Date, and JUST 9 weeks until I am full term. So at any point in time, after 9 weeks Tristan can come. I mean .. really? We are almost there already? It feels so unreal at this point.
We started our Childbirth and Parenting classes last Thursday (4-22) and it was so fun. We have them every Thursday night for 6 weeks. I can't wait for our next class this Thurs!! My next OB appt is on May 12th at 9am, and I will be 30 weeks. I also have my 4D ultrasound on May 7th :D yay!

Double Digits!
Today I am 25 weeks & 6 days pregnant, and it is a momentous occasion. Why you ask? Because now I am in the double digits! There are only 99 days until my due date, and it is so exciting for it to finally be under 100 :). I can't believe that I will meet our son somewhere in the next 3 months or so. It's amazing, exciting, and overwhelming all at once.
I'm a bit nervous though today. My next OB appt is tomorrow (4-14) and I have my glucose tolerance test tomorrow. I'm not excited about that at all!! I'm so afraid that I will find out I have gest. diabetes. Dunno why, just a strange hunch. I am however, very excited that I get to hear baby boy's heartbeat tomorrow.
Just thought I would share :)

24w update, 5 days late
Hey guys. I don't have much to blog about right now really. I hit 24 weeks last Wednesday, so I will be 25 weeks on the 7th. I am happy, because 24 weeks is viability. This means that if something were to happen and Tristan was born now, he would actually have a chance of survival. With extensive medical care, and months in the NICU of course. But it's good to know he would have a fighting chance. However, I had a talk with the lil guy. I told him he isn't allowed to come out until June 30th (37 weeks). He kicked after I said that, so I think we have an understanding ;) lol.
April is a busy month for us :). My mom's b-day was the 2nd, my sister's b-day is the 11th, on the 14th I have my 26 week check up at my OB.. as well as my 1 hour glucose test.. fun, I hit 27 weeks on the 21st and will officially move into my 3rd trimester that day, and our parenting/childbirthing classes start on the 22nd :). I'm so excited! I can't believe how close we are getting. Things just seem to fly by!
Next I'll post a bump pic u/d :)

Some Fun News!
So I am very excited to announce that I am feeling kicks. Real, actual, obvious kicks! I had my very first obvious kick on Saturday March 6th while laying in bed. That same night I felt a kick on the outside, and so did Paul! He is so happy and proud to feel his son moving around in there. Though he can't always feel the kicks, and describes it as a light thump on his hand.
Well to me, on the inside, they feel like a pretty strong thump or a nudge. I've felt him almost daily since then. I usually feel him in the morning, after lunch, and around 10 pm or so. But definately multiple times a day.
And even more news: Last night I saw.. YES saw.. him move. I watched him kick me several times yesterday and today. My tummy kinda jumps and shakes when he kicks. It's so neat.
I will be 21 weeks pregnant tomorrow :). It's so very exciting to be 1/2 way done with this pregnancy. Mainly cuz I just want to meet him. My next appt is 3-17, St Patty's Day. And I can't wait to hear his heartbeat again.
We have tons of stuff for him already, and we are going to pick up his crib/changing table this weekend! I really don't need much else :P I'll hopefully be posting more belly pics soon, as well as pics of his nursery in progress.

Houston... we have a BOY!!!
Hey everybody! We had our big ultrasound today and it went great. We got to see the baby sleep, then he woke and started to run away from the u/s tech. He waved at us and even hit himself in the head :P lol. Here are some pics :) His name is : Tristan Cole :)

18 week update
Hey everyone! I am 18 weeks pregnant today :) I can't believe how close to being 1/2 way there I am! I had a doctors appointment today and I thought I would give everyone a little update. In true Ashley fashion, I suck at updates so this will be long. Sorry :(
My appt went well. I got to meet my doc for the first time, (other doc in office had been seeing me) and I really like her :) They are both super nice docs! She and I talked for a while, and she really answered some questions. I let a student come in and observe. She was so sweet, and touched me like she was afraid to hurt me lol. My doc did a doppler. Found the HB right away! It was 140BPM, and if you remember, at my last appt it was 150. I think the baby was sleeping today lol.
They had to draw a tube of blood. It's for the other 1/2 of my quad screen in which they took blood at my last appt. I will get the results of the whole screen at my next appt. They stuck my arm twice and my vein died, so she stuck me in the right arm. My left arm hurts lol! I'm so glad I'm done being stuck for a little while.
We made the appt for our BIG ULTRASOUND!!!!! I'm so excited if you couldn't tell :). It will be on Wed. 2-24. I have to be in the office at 11 am, and then testing starts at 11:30. We can't wait to find out what our little one is :) I'm hoping my mom can make it. She has a meeting at 12:30, so we will have to see :( My next OB appt will be 3-17.
Even though I was extremely happy to hear my baby's heartbeat today, and to set up my ultrasound.. it was with a heavy heart. We found out late last night that Paul's cousin had passed away. She wasn't doing very well, and was in a Surgical ICU in another state. RIP.... I try to remember the positive sides of all these losses we have dealt with in the past few months. But it's not always easy.
Regardless, I am still so excited to know that I will be a mother in 2010. And so far, baby is just fine.. I just gotta start gaining weight lol :)

2nd OB appt today
Good afternoon everyone. Today I had my 2nd OB appt. It went very well. We went over all my lab results from last time.. and everything was good . I knew I was an RH baby, but found out my blood type is A+ so I wont be needing the rhogam shot.. woot!!! Doc said my uterus is measuring perfectly. They took 2 more vials of blood, for a neural defect screening. So I guess that means it was the BW part of an NT scan? Idk.
Now the exciting part I got to hear my baby's heartbeat for the first real time. It was so amazing. They did a doppler, and it was 150bpm. Paul was crying, it was such a sweet moment! We are so stoked. My next appt is in 4 weeks, on Feb 17th. Then on that day we will schedule my big u/s for the following week. So in just 5 weeks we will know what team we are on!!! Unless, the baby doesn't cooperate of course.
Now for something I know some of you wanna see... belly pics :) I am 13w6d today, and these pics were taken at 13w2d.

I'm a horrible blogger...update on me
Hello my friends :) I'm not even sure if anyone checks my blog, but anywho. I realize I have not updated my blog since Dec. 17th, so this will be a long post! lol
Well Dec. 22nd I had my first OB appt. It went well. They took tons of blood, a urine sample, and did a pelvic exam/pap smear. Omg the pap hurt worse than ever before. My doc wasn't in that day, but another OB in the office tended to me. I liked her, and I truly look forward to meeting my OB. They called back 1 week later to tell me that I had a UTI. They prescribed meds, and it seems to be cleared up now. yay!
My 2nd OB appt is scheduled for Tuesday Jan. 19th. Early in the AM too... so I don't have to wait all day :P At this appt I will get to hear the baby's heartbeat again via a hand-held doppler. I can't wait to hear that soothing sound, and also to find out what the baby's heart rate is :)
This Wednesday (the 13th) I will be 13 weeks, and officially in my 2nd trimester. I couldn't be happier to reach this land mark! As you can see on my blog page, the baby is about the size of a peach now :). Soon enough, I will start to feel flutters. Then in about 7 weeks or so, we will find out our baby's gender!!! Paul and I absolutely can't wait!
I am amazed with how great my pregnancy has gone so far. It seems to be flying by! I didn't get any morning sickness really until about 10.5 weeks. Since then, I have had m/s off and on.. a few days it has been pretty bad. But luckily, I have only vomited once this pregnancy so far! Knock on wood :) So yea, other than being tired.. I feel good.
On a not so good, and not so pregnant related note.. I have some news. Paul is still looking for a job, but still receiving unemployment. Which is a blessing. But... yea always a but isn't there. This past Sunday I lost my job. They basically just "let me go", and yes.. it has everything to do with me being pregnant. Also, my great grandmother passed away the day after Christmas, then 5 days later my oldest horse passed away. I had owned her since I was 13. I have also gotten bad news from several friends since then.
So needless to say, this past month has been a rough one. I'm trying to stay positive, and try to stay up-beat for the sake of me and the baby. But it's not so easy when you keep getting hit with hard balls. I know soon things will start to look up. Up is the only way it can go from here. :) I'm sure God has a plan, and I'm trying hard to trust in that.
Well, I am sorry this was so long. But I seem to be kinda crappy at updating :P But there you have it, and I promise I will try to update more often.. Hmm I think I've said that before lol. I hope everyone is doing well!

My doc wasn't in that day, but another OB in the office tended to me. I liked her, and I truly look forward to meeting my OB. They called back 1 week later to tell me that I had a UTI. They prescribed meds, and it seems to be cleared up now. yay!
My 2nd OB appt is scheduled for Tuesday Jan. 19th. Early in the AM too... so I don't have to wait all day :P At this appt I will get to hear the baby's heartbeat again via a hand-held doppler. I can't wait to hear that soothing sound, and also to find out what the baby's heart rate is :)
This Wednesday (the 13th) I will be 13 weeks, and officially in my 2nd trimester. I couldn't be happier to reach this land mark! As you can see on my blog page, the baby is about the size of a peach now :). Soon enough, I will start to feel flutters. Then in about 7 weeks or so, we will find out our baby's gender!!! Paul and I absolutely can't wait!
I am amazed with how great my pregnancy has gone so far. It seems to be flying by! I didn't get any morning sickness really until about 10.5 weeks. Since then, I have had m/s off and on.. a few days it has been pretty bad. But luckily, I have only vomited once this pregnancy so far! Knock on wood :) So yea, other than being tired.. I feel good.
On a not so good, and not so pregnant related note.. I have some news. Paul is still looking for a job, but still receiving unemployment. Which is a blessing. But... yea always a but isn't there. This past Sunday I lost my job. They basically just "let me go", and yes.. it has everything to do with me being pregnant. Also, my great grandmother passed away the day after Christmas, then 5 days later my oldest horse passed away. I had owned her since I was 13. I have also gotten bad news from several friends since then.
So needless to say, this past month has been a rough one. I'm trying to stay positive, and try to stay up-beat for the sake of me and the baby. But it's not so easy when you keep getting hit with hard balls. I know soon things will start to look up. Up is the only way it can go from here. :) I'm sure God has a plan, and I'm trying hard to trust in that.
Well, I am sorry this was so long. But I seem to be kinda crappy at updating :P But there you have it, and I promise I will try to update more often.. Hmm I think I've said that before lol. I hope everyone is doing well!
